KPMG is currently seeking a Director in Risk Strategy & Compliance - Operations & Compliance Risk for our KPMG Risk Consulting practice.


  • Provide technical advisory services related to regulatory compliance in program integrity, oversight and monitoring, and/or disaster recovery
  • Develop and implement strategies to provide expert programmatic and policy advice on federal state and local regulations
  • Advance and maintain relationships with a large number of senior management at state and local government agencies, positioning self and the firm for opportunities to generate new business; proactively participate in business development efforts for primary target clients
  • Establish standards by which deliverables are measured, understand the process used to create deliverables, review deliverables against established standards, and identify gaps and root causes
  • Schedule, plan, assign, and provide direction and review the work of the team members working on assigned engagements
  • Additional Responsibilities for Director:

  • Serve as a leader in recruiting and retention efforts to develop the practice
  • Contribute to industry and regulatory publications, write professional articles, and speak about current compliance issues at external seminars
  • Advise on special projects and emerging issues related to disaster recovery
  • Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of recent and applicable experience in a compliance or project/program management related role, working with state and local agencies in Texas, Virginia, New Jersey or New York state or local governments
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university; current and thorough knowledge of federal laws, rules and regulations associated with federal programs in the Health and Human Services, Transportation, Finance and Accounting domains. Certifications or licenses such as Certified Emergency Manager, CPA, CIA or PMP preferred
  • Previous experience leading teams, managing large and complex projects, and accustomed to taking an active role in executing engagements
  • Demonstrated track record of client service and business development at or in one of the four governments noted above
  • Possess exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to gain the confidence and respect of senior executives
  • Travel may be up to 80-100%
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • Additional Qualifications for Director:

  • A minimum of eight years of recent and applicable experience in a compliance or program design/management related role, working with state and federal programs/agencies such as Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
